Artist Statement:
“I think of my work as a product of the references I take from the world and then translate into images on canvas, paper and clay. These forms should be liberated of everything that is real to be purely imaginary. That is, in art, only the dream will be able to articulate our relationship with the environment, with the knowledge of the world.
From this thinking I developed the understanding that a work of art is, in and of itself, the absolute liberty to dream the world.”
Reviews:
Rosa Amanda Strausz - journalist and critic 2001
"Observing Edineusa’s artwork produced for the last 25 years gives me the clear opportunity to think about the relationship between regional and universal art, being this, perhaps, the theme on her canvases. All her art work somehow brings marks of her origin. All artists carry along some historical, geographic and political background which will be reflected in their artwork. It has not been any different with Edineusa Bezerril. Her artwork production and her choices have varied and so has her way of relating with her roots. However, the search for a Brazilian "language" which would also be universal remained unchangeable. Whoever experiences Edineusa's artwork for the first time may not realize that the regional presence in her work is there by choice; it is not just a coincidence but a conviction.”
